Example

Using the default figures: basic ₹30,000 + HRA ₹12,000 + conveyance ₹1,600 + special allowance ₹8,000 gives gross earnings of ₹51,600. Deductions of PF ₹3,600 + professional tax ₹200 + TDS ₹2,500 total ₹6,300, leaving a net pay of ₹45,300 on the slip for the month.

How it works

Gross earnings is the simple sum of every earning line — basic + HRA + conveyance + special allowance + other allowance. Total deductions is the sum of PF + professional tax + TDS + other deduction, and net pay = gross earnings − total deductions. Every figure you type flows straight into the live slip preview, and the print button uses your browser's print dialog with a print-only style so that only the slip itself — not the rest of the page — lands on paper or in the PDF.

Good to know

A proper salary slip shows two columns: earnings (basic salary, house rent allowance, conveyance, special and other allowances) and deductions (employee provident fund contribution, professional tax, TDS and any recoveries), followed by gross pay, total deductions and net pay. Real employer payslips also carry identifiers this template lets you note in the header — the pay month, employee name and designation — and formal payroll adds the PF account or UAN number, ESI number where applicable, and days paid. Professional tax is a state levy: it applies in states such as Maharashtra, Karnataka and West Bengal (capped at ₹2,500 per year) and does not exist in Delhi or Uttar Pradesh, which is why slips from different states look slightly different.

Salary slips matter well beyond payday. Banks and NBFCs ask for the last three to six months of slips before sanctioning a home, car or personal loan, because the net-pay line is what they base your repayment capacity on. Visa applications for many countries request recent payslips as proof of stable income, and almost every new employer's HR team asks for slips from your current job to verify the compensation you quoted before releasing an offer. Keeping clean monthly slips filed away saves real scrambling later.

Understand the three layers of pay. CTC (cost to company) is everything the employer spends on you, including its own PF contribution, gratuity provision and insurance premiums — money you never see in-hand. Gross salary is your earnings before deductions, and net (take-home) pay is what actually hits your bank account. In a typical Indian salary structure, basic salary is set at roughly 40–50% of CTC, and HRA at about 50% of basic in metro cities or 40% in non-metro cities, since those are the caps that matter for the HRA tax exemption. The special allowance is usually the balancing figure that absorbs whatever is left of the CTC.

Finally, a clear caveat: this tool generates a formatted slip from numbers you type — it is a template generator, not an official payroll document. A legally meaningful payslip is issued by an employer through its payroll system, reflects actual statutory remittances (PF challans, TDS deposited against your PAN, professional tax paid to the state), and should match your Form 16 and EPFO passbook. Use this page to draft, understand or reconstruct a slip's arithmetic, not to fabricate income proof — submitting a self-made slip as an employer document to a lender is fraud.

Frequently asked questions

What should a salary slip include?
Standard slips show the pay month, employee name and designation, earnings (basic, HRA, conveyance, special and other allowances), deductions (employee PF, professional tax, TDS, other recoveries), and the resulting gross pay, total deductions and net pay. Employer-issued slips also carry the PF/UAN number and days paid.
Is a slip made with this tool an official payroll document?
No. It is a formatted template for drafting, understanding or reconstructing salary arithmetic. Official payslips are issued by an employer's payroll system and are backed by actual PF, professional tax and TDS remittances. Never present a self-made slip to a lender or employer as genuine income proof.
Is my salary data uploaded anywhere?
No — this generator runs entirely in your browser — nothing you type is uploaded. Printing or saving as PDF also happens locally through your browser's print dialog.
Is this salary slip generator free?
Yes, completely free with no sign-up, no watermark and no limits. Fill in the fields, then print or save the slip as a PDF.

People also ask

Why do banks ask for salary slips?
Lenders use the net-pay and deduction lines on your last three to six months of payslips to judge repayment capacity and verify stable employment before approving home, car or personal loans. Slips are also standard supporting documents for visa applications and new-job background checks.
What percentage of CTC is basic salary?
Most Indian salary structures set basic at roughly 40–50% of CTC. HRA is then typically about 50% of basic in metro cities or 40% in non-metro cities, matching the limits used for the HRA tax exemption, with special allowance absorbing the remainder.
What is the difference between gross salary and net salary?
Gross salary is the total of all earnings — basic, HRA, conveyance and allowances — before anything is withheld. Net salary is gross minus deductions such as employee PF, professional tax and TDS; it is the amount actually credited to your bank account.
